In May, David enrolled in our HYPE program (Helping Youth Prepare for Employment), where he participated in a four-week workforce skills training to help prepare him for his first job.
This Summer, he selected the Resource Council of WNY as his worksite, as part of Mayor Brown’s six-week Summer Employment Program. He not only assisted with our community food distribution effort but in our summer camp, as well. The kids loved his energy and enthusiasm!
Today, we’re very proud to announce that David earned his official LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION, including AED and CPR training, sponsored by the City of Buffalo and Police Athletic League of Buffalo, Inc. Now, David will be able to lifeguard year-round in our indoor pool at the Resource Council of WNY and at city pools next Summer.
PROUD is an understatement! The Resource Council of WNY will continue to create pathways to employment for our teens, and encourage them to take advantage of EVERY opportunity! Congrats, David! Your village is beaming with pride!
